Ecofont, save the toner (and the planet?)!

by on Oct.29, 2012, under Tech Junk

Seems like a new trend now to use “ecofont”. It’s simply a new font derived from the already open source Vera Sans font, which promises to save you up to 50% on toner expenses.

Designed originally by Spranq this font is availabel for download freely from many places around the web including here (os x).

To install this on OS X, simply move the downloaded file to the “~/Library/fonts” folder.

  1. Download file form here.
  2. Open a new Finder window
  3. Click “Go” form the top menu and select “Go to Folder” (or use keyboard combination Shift+CMD+G)
  4. Type “~/Library/fonts” (without the double quotes) and hit enter.
  5. Put the downloaded file in the folder.
  6. In any word editing application like Open Office or Microsoft Office for example) select “Ecofont Vera Sans” and off you go!
